Tobias & Edguy are currently touring South America with ex-Guns'n Roses guitarist Slash and his band, but right before they left Tobias sent us some footage he filmed during the recording of the new Avantasia album to give you a clue of what's going on in the studio. The drum recordings for the forthcoming Avantasia album have been completed, and the drummer is Russell Gilbrook from Uriah Heep....

Tobias is currently in the studio working with a legion of guest instrumentalists and vocalists on a new AVANTASIA album to be released in spring 2013. The album will once again be a Rock Opera based on a conceptual story very similar to the early AVANTASIA albums. Read more at tobiassammet.com
god, i love that biff showed up, had not a SINGLE clue what wass going on or what the album was about, but he sang with his whole heart and soul and he DELIVERED in making a beautiful part in one of the most beautiful pieces in avantasia's discography imo.. but he didn't have a clue haha... god, i feel like I've been awake too long... I feel like I've been dreaming...

Damn, hard to think this was 10 years ago! Only recently discovered Edguy/Avantasia after having listened to Jorn for a bit! Sort of jumped from him to Avantasia and Edguy after! All of you are great!
Officially i have listed all Avantasia albums and it has been a magical experience. =) Tobi has taught us to not stick with only one musical style or approach and He has been able to keep fresh and honest with every album. At some point if you dont overthink it too much, all albums are connected. Great job Tobi you are a truly genius and your music has changed my life.

So Avantasia album October, Edguy album next year? I’ve sort of stopped listening to new music from bands I like because somehow they all put out garbage now, but Avantasia and Edguy never let me down.
